概覽

法蘭西第一共和國（法語：République française）是法國歷史學家對1792年9月到1804年5月間多個共和政體習慣上的統稱。在法國大革命期間，法國經歷了短暫的君主立憲時期（1791年9月4日—1792年9月21日）。1792年8月10日，「無套褲漢」占領杜伊勒里宮，法國君主制最終結束，隨後開啟了法蘭西第一共和國時期。它的領土包括現今法國領土的全部以及神聖羅馬帝國位於萊茵河西岸的各省。神聖羅馬帝國在萊茵河西岸的各省後來成為今天德國的一部分，以及比利時和盧森堡兩個國家。

儘管共和國從未被正式地宣布成立，1792年9月22日，國民公會做出決定，1792年為共和國的元年。1792年9月25日，國民公會宣布，共和國是「統一且不可分裂的」。從1792年到1802年，法國同歐洲的其他國家進行了一系列的戰爭——法國大革命戰爭。同時，它還經歷著內戰——旺代戰爭。

國民公會（1792年9月21日—1795年10月26日）：國民公會時期經歷了一段雅各賓專政（1793年—1794年），在這一階段，權力掌握在山嶽派所控制的救國委員會手中（1793年4月6日—1794年7月27日）。從1793年10月5日起，共和國正式使用共和曆。共和元年獲月6日（1793年6月24日），國民公會頒布了《共和元年憲法》（即《1793年憲法》）。《1793年憲法》取代了《1791年憲法》，然而，《1793年憲法》卻從未被實施。共和二年熱月9日（1794年7月26日），羅伯斯庇爾倒台，雅各賓專政結束。
