概覽
義大利王國（義大利語：Regno d’Italia）是一個存在於1861年至1946年間的單一君主制國家，由薩丁尼亞國王維克托·伊曼紐爾二世宣布建立。經過漫長的義大利統一運動，義大利各地實現統一，形成了現代意義上的義大利國家。這一統一過程主要由薩伏依王朝統治下的撒丁王國主導，因此撒丁王國被視為義大利王國的合法前身。1946年6月2日，義大利舉行公民投票，決定廢除王政，義大利王國隨之結束。
1866年，義大利聯合普魯士王國向奧地利帝國宣戰，並在勝利後獲得了倫巴第-威尼托王國。 1870年義大利軍隊進入羅馬，結束了教宗一千多年的世俗權力，首都從佛羅倫薩遷往羅馬。19世紀的最後20年，義大利發展成為殖民大國，並在與法國就各自的殖民擴張產生強烈分歧後，於1882年與德意志帝國和奧匈帝國結成三國同盟。儘管與柏林的關係變得非常友好，義大利與維也納的聯盟仍然純粹是形式上的，部分原因是義大利希望從奧匈帝國手中獲得特倫蒂諾和的里雅斯特。在第一次世界大戰期間，因西方列強承諾以領土補償作為義大利參與戰爭的條件比維也納為換取義大利中立而提出的補償更為慷慨，義大利應英國邀請，倒戈並加入協約國。戰爭的勝利使義大利獲得了國際聯盟理事會的常任理事國席位，但並未獲得其承諾的全部領土。
