Обзор

Тре́тья Францу́зская респу́блика (фр. Troisième République) — период в истории Франции с 4 сентября 1870 года по 10 июля 1940 года. Являлась демократической республикой с правлением президента и, тем самым, немонархической империей (см. Вторая французская колониальная империя). Государство образовалось в 1870 году в результате Сентябрьской революции и последующего свержения императора французов Наполеона III в ходе Франко-прусской войны 1870—1871 годов. Как все западноевропейские государства того времени, являлась также метрополией с большими колониальными владениями в Африке.
