개요

몰다비아(루마니아어: Moldova 또는 Țara Moldovei)는 동유럽의 역사적 지역이자 옛 공국으로, 카르파티아산맥과 드네스트르강 사이의 영토에 해당한다.

처음에는 독립국이었고 나중에는 자치국이었던 이 나라는 14세기부터 1859년까지 존재했으며, 이후 왈라키아(루마니아어: Țara Românească)와 연합하여 함께 현대 루마니아 국가의 기반이 되었다. 시기에 따라 몰다비아는 베사라비아(부자크 포함), 부코비나 전체, 헤르차 지역, 포쿠티아 지역까지 영토에 포함했다. 몰다비아의 서부는 현재 루마니아의 일부이고 동부는 몰도바 공화국에 속하며, 북부와 남동부는 우크라이나의 영토이다.
