法蘭西第三共和國（法語：La Troisième République，有時寫作La IIIe République）是近代法國於1870年法蘭西第二帝國崩潰至1940年7月10日維琪法國成立間的政體，為議會共和國。該國是世界第二大殖民帝國，長期在農業、工業、軟實力及軍事上位列全球前列，但在適齡人口數量與政治穩定上則遠不及其他強國，最終在第二次世界大戰中崩潰。

1870年的普法戰爭導致法蘭西第二帝國皇帝拿破崙三世倒台，新成立的法蘭西第三共和國則繼續戰鬥。戰後，普魯士人侵占了法國的亞爾薩斯（保留了貝爾福的領土）和洛林（東北部，即今摩澤爾省一帶），導致了法國社會動盪和巴黎公社的建立。在第三共和國的早期，政府曾考慮重建君主制，但關於君主制的性質和王位的合法占有者等分歧無法解決，因此最初設想作為臨時政府的第三共和國反而成為法國的正式政府。

1875年的法國憲法規定了第三共和國的組成，國會由眾議院和參議院組成，即政府的立法部門，並由總統擔任國家元首。在法國前兩任總統阿道夫·梯也爾和帕特里斯·麥克馬洪的任期內，他們呼籲恢復君主制。但是隨著民眾逐漸接受了共和制以及一系列共和主義總統的統治，到了1880年代，呼籲恢復君主制的聲音便逐漸消失。

第三共和國建立了許多法國殖民地，包括法屬印度支那、法屬馬達加斯加、法屬玻里尼西亞，以及在爭奪非洲的過程中在西非的大片領土，這些都是在19世紀最後20年獲得的。20世紀初，民主共和聯盟主導了整個政壇；最初，民主共和聯盟被認為是一個中間偏左的政治聯盟，但隨著時間的推移，它變成了中間偏右的主要政黨。1914年第一次世界大戰爆發，法國作為協約國的主要陸戰部隊及軍工廠，在四年多的戰爭中損失慘重。戰間期間，民主共和聯盟和激進派之間的政治分化非常嚴重。二戰爆發後不到一年，德國軍隊占領了法國大部分地區，取而代之的是夏勒·戴高樂的自由法國和菲利普·貝當的維琪法國的敵對政府。
