概覽

澳大利亞聯邦（英語：Commonwealth of Australia），通稱澳大利亞、澳洲（Australia，縮寫為AU、AUS），是一個位於南半球中北部、東半球東部的議會制君主立憲制、聯邦制國家。全國整體屬於大洋洲（並非自成一洲），是該洲面積最大、南半球面積第二大和全球面積第六大的國家。澳洲國土囊括了整塊澳大利亞大陸、塔斯馬尼亞島及聖誕島等數個海外島嶼，國土總面積約7,692,300平方公里，和美國本土的面積相近。截至2024年1月該國人口數已經突破2,700萬人。該國沒有陸上鄰國，所有近鄰國家均與其隔海相望。其中東南部有紐西蘭；東北部有巴布亞紐幾內亞及萬那杜、斐濟等太平洋島國；北部及西北部是印度尼西亞、東帝汶等東南亞國家。澳洲的首都為坎培拉，最大都市為雪梨（大都市）和墨爾本（市區），其他主要都市有布里斯本、阿得雷德、伯斯、達爾文等，本土劃分為六個州及兩個領地。經濟社會發展上，屬於已開發國家和資本主義國家。
