Das Vereinigte Königreich Großbritannien und Nordirland (englisch ), kurz Vereinigtes Königreich (englisch [juːˌnaɪ̯.tʰɪd ˈkʰɪŋ.dəm], Abkürzung: UK), ist ein auf den Britischen Inseln vor der Nordwestküste Kontinentaleuropas gelegener Staat, der den größten Inselstaat Europas bildet.

Das Vereinigte Königreich ist eine Union aus vier Landesteilen, die auf Englisch meist als countries (Länder) oder nations (Nationen) bezeichnet werden: England, Wales, Schottland und Nordirland. Hauptstadt und bevölkerungsreichste Stadt des Vereinigten Königreichs sowie eines der größten Kultur-, Medien-, Handels- und Finanzzentren der Welt ist London. Weitere politisch, wirtschaftlich oder kulturell bedeutende Städte sind Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool und Belfast.
